Evan Owens is a simple, down-to-earth, hard worker. He grew up in family of talkers and storytellers. One of his earliest childhood memories is of Sunday afternoons, when family and friends would sit around telling stories and having a good time. It just so happened that the only time people paid attention to young Evan was when he told his story in song. Twenty years later, he is still singing stories.

Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Evan would listen to his parents’ Elvis records for hours. Since that time a myriad of musical influences have come together to create Evan’s rich, unique sound known as Southern Roots Rock. The carefully crafted harmonies of acapella groups, the lyrics of country, the raspy vocals of classic rock and the beat-boxed rhythms of hip hop all find a home in his music.

Late in October of 1998 Evan formed the band "Cross Countee." The group played a unique blend of country, acoustic folk and southern rock. Before long, the band members went their separate ways – but Evan was by no means done with music. In the summer of 1999, Evan finished work on "Songs from the Green Room," an independent project. Working without a backup band allowed Evan to record all of the instrumental tracks himself. During this time, Evan performed as often as possible, promoting his music and learning how to work a crowd.

It became more and more evident to Evan – and to those around him – that he was made to be a musician. As he began planning to make his dreams into reality, he developed a motto that would shape his career and life: “To go forward in life, one must prepare the little things in order to be ready for the large opportunities.” Following this exceptional advice, Evan has relentlessly been preparing the small things in anticipation of greatness.

Evan decided that college was an important step in preparation. He chose Belmont University located in the heart of music city itself…Nashville! Within his first year, he began receiving recognition, not only from peers but also from within the industry. Backed by a band of talented musicians, Evan began booking shows and performing around town.

This brings us to the present. With revived energy, a full roster of new songs, and added maturity, Evan is excited and ready to explode onto the music scene. He is without a doubt an artist on the rise.
